Petit Verdot is a late-ripening red grape from Bordeaux, where it is used in small amounts to add color, tannin and spice to blends. In warmer regions such as Spain it ripens more fully and is also made on its own. Its wines are deeply colored, with firm tannins and notes of violet, dark fruit and spice.
