Avgoustiatis is a red grape of the Ionian Islands, especially Zakynthos, and the nearby western Peloponnese. Its name refers to August, the month it begins to ripen. It gives medium-bodied reds and rosés with soft tannins, ripe red and dark fruit and a light touch of spice.
