Bobal is one of Spain's most widely planted red grapes, at home in Utiel-Requena and Manchuela in the east of the country. It gives deeply colored wines with lively acidity, moderate alcohol and flavors of dark berries. Long used for bulk wine, it now also makes fresh rosés and serious reds from old vines.
