Merlot comes from Bordeaux, where it is the most planted grape and the main variety on the Right Bank. It gives round, supple wines with softer tannins than Cabernet Sauvignon and flavors of plum, black cherry and chocolate. It is grown worldwide, both on its own and in blends.
