Seibel is the name of a large family of French hybrid grapes, bred by crossing European vines with American species for resistance to disease. Hybrids of this kind spread to many places, including some Atlantic islands, where they cope well with damp weather. The red Seibel hybrids generally give deeply colored, fruity wines.
