Listán Negro is the most widely planted red grape of the Canary Islands, especially on Tenerife. It gives light to medium-bodied reds with fresh acidity, red fruit and a peppery, mineral edge from the volcanic soils. Some growers use carbonic maceration to bring out its fruit, and it also makes good rosé.
